Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.
Start by taking a gray pencil, and drawing a large upside-down heart shape on the right side of your page.
2.
Now, add another heart shape to the bottom of this one…
3.
And continue to add three more shapes to the bottom, making them slightly wider as you reach the bottom.
4.
Add another shape to the bottom, making this wider still…
5.
And then use the pencil and a ruler to add a long, thin rectangle to the bottom of the page.
6.
Add a square shape to the right of this, underneath the bottom heart shape.
7.
Then, add a smaller square above this.
8.
Repeat these shapes to the left – these will be the presents left by Santa.
9.
Add shorter lines to the left of these, and connect these to the original shape with slightly angled lines, to create the 3D effect.
10.
Gently erase a section from the second line across – where the corner of the present pile is, and the bottom of the heart shapes.
11.
Redraw the lines so that there is a pile of gifts is in front of the bottom of the tree.
12.
Add two parallel, vertical lines to the center of each present…
13.
Repeat this by adding two more sets of lines to the left edge of each present…
14.
And then add small heart-shaped bows to the top.
15.
Use an eraser to remove the lines crossing these bows…
16.
And then redraw them, adding small teardrop shapes inside to form the details of each bow.
17.
Now, add a large oval shape to the left of the left-hand pile of gifts…
18.
And erase the line crossing this, then redraw this oval shape.
19.
Add a second curved shape to the left…
20.
And once again, erase any interrupting lines.
21.
Now, bring two angled lines up from this left shape, heading up towards the top left-hand corner of the page.
22.
Add a curved line to the end of this…
23.
And then add a long, curved shape to the left end, creating Santa's belt.
24.
Now, bring two angled, parallel lines down towards the bottom of the page, and connect these to the rectangle at the bottom with two short, curved lines.
25.
Repeat this to the left, angling the lines in the other direction, to create Santa's legs and shoes.
26.
Now, add two small teardrop shapes inside the shoes, to show how shiny they are…
27.
And bring a curved line up from the left end of the belt, and then curve this down to a point, back up, and across to the left slightly, before taking it back down – we will now turn this into an arm.
28.
Connect the end of this to the curved line at the back…
29.
And then add a hand and furry cuff to the end.
30.
Take an eraser, and remove the curved line at the back, and at the top of the arm.
31.
Redraw these without any interrupting lines.
32.
Next, add a large, curved semicircle to the back.
33.
Connect the right end of this to the hand with short lines…
34.
And add a curved oval shape just in front.
35.
Now, use the eraser to remove the interrupting lines from this oval…
36.
And add a second shape just below this.
37.
Repeat this with a third shape…
38.
And then add another to the top. Connect all of these with a curved line at the right end.
39.
Draw another oval shape, this timer vertical, to the left.
40.
Add a small circle inside this one, and two curved lines to the shape to the right of this, creating Santa's eyes. Now, add a curved smile to the section below.
41.
Bring up two curved lines from the top of the head, ending in a circle to create Santa's distinctive hat.
42.
Now, add two small squares, one inside the other, just below the arm…
43.
And use two parallel lines at the top and bottom to create a belt.
44.
Add a vertical curved line to the top of this, and add a small circle for the button…
45.
Before using a black fineliner pen to go over all the outlines of your drawing.
46.
Now, grab a green pen, and fill in alternating sections of the tree.
47.
Then, use a teal pen or a dark green pen for the remaining sections of the tree.
48.
Fill in the gaps behind the bows…
49.
And then use a yellow pen for the ribbon and bow of the presents, and for Santa's belt buckle.
50.
Fill in the rest of the presents with a red pen.
51.
Grab a brown pen to the long rectangle at the bottom…
52.
And then use a red pen for Santa's suit.
53.
Use the yellow pen for the button above the belt.
54.
Next, use a black pen for the shoes and belt.
55.
Grab a pink pen for his face and hands.
56.
And use the eraser to tidy up any stray lines.
And just like that, you have caught Santa in the act of leaving gifts – anyone else excited?
